It’s journalism at its finest as a daily Chinese newspaper produced under the auspices of the Chinese Communist Party started an article with this sentence yesterday:
“A pet cat has found fame in Yangshan, East China’s Jiangsu Province, after giving birth to a puppy.”
Well it must be true if it’s in the newspaper, right? The newspaper, The Global Times, is normally well above the league of trashy tabloids that talk authoritatively about aliens in our midst and half-gorilla human toddlers.
The story goes on to report that the mama cat’s owner, Zhou Yun, said the cat gave birth to two kittens, but when she checked on them later, one of the kittens had died. “I then noticed the other kitten looked surprisingly like a dog,” Zhou said.
She said the cat sleeps in her home with her good friend, a dog. “Quite possibly the kitty is a mixed child,” Zhou said.
Hmm, what do you think is really going on here, Dogsters? Did the maternal cat take in a puppy after losing a kitten? Did the woman put a pup with the cat for a little fame? Or is this just a really weird looking kitten — and ugly dogling of sorts?
